Frequently asked questions
Why are Earthbound™ sneakers special?
Earthbound™ designs and produces radically ecological sneakers, made from 97% natural materials. Earthbound™'s contain no chemicals toxic to human health. It is the world's first Oeko-tex® certified footwear and first certified B Corp in Croatia.
Where are Earthbound™ sneakers from?
Earthbound™ sneakers are designed and manufactured in Europe, in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Why is Miret suddenly Earthbound™?
After 5 years of rethinking footwear, and creating 97% ecological sneakers you all know as “MIRET”, we proudly unveiled a new brand name in late 2023 - Earthbound™. We felt the time has come for a name that truly reflects who we are and communicates what we've always stood for - putting ecology first in everything we do.
Do you have a physical store?
Earthbound™ sneakers are sold on our official website, and in one physical partner store:
- Galerija Link store in Zagreb
Can I find your products in any partner shops or online stores?
Yes, our products are available through a few selected partner online shops, including:
- Avocadostore
- Bergfreunde
- Sneakin
- 3LEAVES
- Ready Set Green
- Hey Themis
If you come across our products being sold elsewhere, please let us know so we can verify it's an authorized partner.
Are Earthbound™ sneakers vegan?
All new models of Earthbound™ sneakers contain wool and are not vegan. Nevertheless, our wool is produced without any harm to sheep and without toxic chemicals.
If your sneakers are 97% bio-based, what is in the remaining 3%?
The 3% of non bio-based materials are synthetic glue and polyester thread. Both of these components are here to make the build of the sneaker stronger so it can last you a long time.
Are Earthbound™ sneakers barefoot shoes?
Earthbound sneakers are lightweight, flexible and have flat and low outsoles, but they aren’t barefoot sneakers. Earthbound™ sneakers are not built with “zero-drop” even though the height difference in the area of heel and the front area is minimal. Also, unlike barefoot sneakers, Earthbound™ sneakers do have insoles with arch support.
Are Earthbound™ sneakers unisex?
Yes, all Earthbound™ sneakers are unisex. While they may be categorized as men's or women's on our webshop for organizational purposes, all of our sneaker models are designed to be suitable for everyone. Therefore, whether you choose a style listed under men's or women's categories, rest assured that there is no difference in the sneakers themselves – they are all intended to be unisex.
Do you stock/sell extra laces?
We don't stock, sell or send extra laces, but we do ship 2 pairs of laces with every pair of Earthbound™ sneakers.
How do I dispose of my Earthbound™ sneakers?
There is no right way to dispose of shoes, even Earthbound™ sneakers. This is the reason why we are trying to develop a shoe which is toxin-free. We could organize the process of disassembly and recycling ourselves, but the CO2 emissions of shipping a used pair back to our facility would cause more harm than good. Unfortunately there is no standardized-recycling-of-shoes method out there, so shoe-recycling is not an option yet. The best would be to use them until they are no longer usable, and then have them repaired at your local repair-shop and use them some more.
How long does it take for Earthbound™ sneakers to break down/degrade after disposal?
Earthbound™’s ultimate goal is to create products which have zero impact on the environment: bio-based, biodegradable, compostable, toxic-free and locally produced, but we are not there yet. Almost everything we humans do has a negative impact on our environment. At Earthbound™ we are working hard to minimize that impact. Our products are much more sustainable than other products on the market, but we still cannot claim that they are in fact “sustainable”. We could make a near-to-zero-impact shoe, but it would be either a block of wood with a hole for your foot, or a cardboard-shoe – incredibly uncomfortable or very non-durable. We are trying to create an optimal balance in everything, and rest assured, we will continue working tirelessly to create even better products.
How to choose my Earthbound sneakers size?
On each product page of our webshop, you will find a link called Size Chart. Clicking that link will reveal a size guide with instructions to determine your recommended size.
Furthermore, you can use Footprint software for further measurement of your feet. Just click "Scan and find your size" on the product page.
If you need further advice, do not hesitate to contact our Customer Service at webshop@earthbound-sneakers.com.
Will my sneakers stretch?
Earthbound™ sneakers won't stretch, so it is important that you measure your feet correctly before choosing your size. Measure both feet and use the larger one for defining your size.
How wide are Earthbound™ sneakers?
Our sneakers are optimised for a regular or average foot width, and while they aren't narrowed at the front, there aren't barefoot shoes. For wider feet we would recommend Leshy models.
Do Earthbound™ sneakers have good arch support?
Earthbound™ sneakers are supported with Earthbound™ ultra-light ergonomically shaped natural insoles that are removable, so you can take them out or replace them with your own insoles.
How to care for your Earthbound sneakers
Pure wool is antistatic and does not attract dirt like other fabrics. The fabric is also water repellent, so spillages are slow to penetrate. To maintain the beautiful colour and appearance, we recommend gentle vacuuming with a soft nozzle.
For dust and mud stains, leave the stains to dry and vacuum clean them. After vacuuming, use your clean shoe (or tooth) brush.
For liquids always soak them up with a white kitchen towel as soon as possible. If the stain has dried on, remove as much of it as possible by vacuuming. Most stains and dirt can be removed using an ordinary ph-neutral detergent diluted in lukewarm water at normal strength.
Over time white dust will appear on the surface of the rubber outsoles. This is a natural process of curing of rubber and you can remove it with a soft cloth dipped in olive oil or baby oil.
Water repellence: all Earthbound™ sneakers come protected with a water-repellent coating which is completely natural, perfectly safe for the environment, human health and any type of material. We recommend to re-apply the Earthbound™ Eco-dry Spray every 6 months in order to preserve the water and stain repellency of the fabric.
IMPORTANT: do not use water-repellent sprays other than the original Earthbound™ Eco-dry Spray. Other sprays can contain solvents or other aggressive and toxic chemicals. These chemicals are not only bad for the environment but they can damage the natural water-repellency of wool.
